SDRPY Hosts Yemen Partners Group Meeting in Riyadh to Enhance Development Efforts

Riyadh: The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) hosted the Yemen Partners Group meeting at its headquarters in Riyadh today, co-chaired by the United Kingdom, the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Yemen, and the World Bank Group.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting emphasized the significance of collaborative action among development partners as fundamental for enhancing development impact, sharing expertise, and coordinating efforts to address Yemen's development needs. The Yemen Partners Group discussed development challenges and recent developments in Yemen, explored ways to enhance cooperation among partners, and outlined plans to expedite the development process in support of peace and stability in the region.

SDRPY Assistant Supervisor-General Eng. Hassan Al-Attas highlighted during the meeting that the program is expanding its development impact. In the first half of 2026, SDRPY launched various vital development projects valued at SAR1.9 billion, provided SAR1.3 billion in budget support to the Yemeni government for operational expenses and salaries, and supplied fuel derivatives to power over 70 electricity generation plants across all Yemeni governorates.

Al-Attas further noted that SDRPY continues to implement development projects and initiatives in collaboration with international organizations and development institutions. This approach is based on integrated efforts to maximize development impact, aiming to achieve more sustainable outcomes.

Since its inception in 2018, SDRPY has executed 287 development projects and initiatives, covering key sectors such as education, health, energy, water, transport, agriculture, fisheries, and development programs. Additionally, it supports building and strengthening the capacities of the Yemeni government.
