National Center for Palms and Dates Promotes Early Harvest Season

Riyadh: The National Center for Palms and Dates has launched the 'Early Date Harvest Season' campaign, coinciding with the start of the first fresh date harvest season in Saudi Arabia.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the initiative aims to highlight the seasonal calendar of early and mid-season dates across different regions, support marketing efforts, enhance their economic value, and increase their contribution to the national economy in line with Saudi Vision 2030. The campaign seeks to meet growing demand for local dates during the early harvest season, connect markets and buyers with availability timelines of different varieties, and support agricultural tourism linked to the season, thereby boosting the market value of diverse date types and stimulating related economic activity.

The center's Acting Director General Eng. Ahmed Al-Ayada stated that the campaign also aims to inform consumers about harvest timings and production areas, promote awareness of Saudi date varieties, and increase local consumption in support of farmers and trade activity. Early dates season begins in late May and continues until September across regions such as Riyadh, Al-Ahsa, Madinah, Qassim, Al-Kharj, Qatif, Hail, and Al-Jouf, with key varieties including Sukkari, Sagai, Ruthana, Barhi, and Khalas.
