Saudi Arabia, Arab and Islamic Nations Denounce Israeli Settlers’ Actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Riyadh: The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey have condemned the actions of extremist Israeli settlers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, which they describe as incursions supported by Israeli forces. These actions, including the raising of the Israeli flag within the mosque's courtyards, are seen as violations of international law and the United Nations resolutions. The ministers emphasize that these actions threaten the historical and legal status of the holy sites in occupied East Jerusalem.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministers expressed concern over Israel's ongoing efforts to change the character of occupied East Jerusalem and undermine the sanctity of its Islamic and Christian sites. They firmly reject any attempts to alter the established status quo in Jerusalem and recognize the Hashemite custodianship's special role in preserving these sites. The ministers reiterated that Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif is exclusively a place of worship for Muslims, with the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs holding exclusive jurisdiction over its administration.

The ministers hold Israeli authorities accountable for ceasing these actions, warning that continued violations could increase tensions and instability in the region. They call for an immediate halt to such practices and emphasize the importance of respecting the historical and legal status of the mosque.

The foreign ministers also expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people, supporting their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. They reiterated their commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace through a two-state solution, aligned with international law, United Nations resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
