Riyadh: Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies Prince Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz said that faith and ethics represent the true foundation for addressing humanity's challenges in a turbulent world. Speaking at the opening session of the international meeting "From Interfaith Dialogue to Multi-Faith Engagement," hosted by the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, Prince Turki said humanity possesses the means and capabilities to confront its major challenges. He underscored the importance of such gatherings in promoting cooperation among faith communities to address global challenges.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting was attended by Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, alongside a group of religious leaders, intellectuals, academics, and international experts.
Prince Turki noted that humanity has made significant progress in modern times in combating hunger and disease while expanding knowledge. He also addressed escalating conflicts and disputes around the world, warning that the danger lies not only in the spread of violence but also in the erosion of adherence to humanitarian rules and standards designed to limit its impact and alleviate civilian suffering.
Turning to technological developments, Prince Turki pointed to the enormous capabilities offered by artificial intelligence, which he said would have been unimaginable only a few years ago. At the same time, he cautioned against excessive reliance on intelligent systems when addressing ethical and human issues.
