Riyadh: The National Center for Wildlife (NCW) has initiated a collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to bolster institutional and human resources in wildlife conservation and sustainable biodiversity development. This initiative aims to improve the management of the center's protected-area network and promote the exchange of technical expertise.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the NCW is focused on expanding its global partnerships in wildlife conservation and biodiversity protection. This effort seeks to utilize international environmental expertise and strengthen coordination with prominent international organizations.
The program encompasses future planning and coordination to enhance national capabilities in biodiversity protection. It aims to implement international standards for ecosystem conservation and develop environmental methodologies aligned with global best practices. The cooperation also supports the protection of endangered species, devises effective management strategies for nature reserves, promotes environmental scientific research, facilitates knowledge exchange, and builds institutional and human capacity in relevant areas.
This collaboration builds on the 2024 agreement between NCW and IUCN, which established a framework for a structured partnership in wildlife development and biodiversity enhancement, signifying the ongoing strengthening of their institutional relations.
