Riyadh: The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) has begun issuing grazing permits in several meadows and national parks to regulate grazing, achieve ecological balance, and mitigate environmental degradation in pastoral areas. Grazing permits are issued at Jabalah Park in Al-Dawadmi Governorate, Rawdat Al-Sabalah in Al-Zulfi Governorate, and Ma’ila 1 Park in Northern Borders Region.
According to Saudi Press Agency, permit issuance is subject to specific conditions, including completing a permit application, tagging and registering livestock on the “Naama” platform, and obtaining a veterinary health certificate to ensure the livestock’s safety. Permit duration depends on pasture conditions and carrying capacity, prioritizing residents of nearby areas and owners of small herds.
This measure is part of NCVC’s commitment to regulating grazing for environmental sustainability and enhancing plant diversity in the Kingdom by reducing pressure on grazing lands and promoting sustainable management of pastoral resources. The center is also focused on developing, protecting, monitoring, and rehabilitating degraded vegetation cover across the Kingdom, addressing violations, combating illegal logging, and overseeing rangelands, forests, and national parks. These efforts support sustainable development and align with the Saudi Green Initiative.
