Riyadh: The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) and the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture "Ithra," represented by its Global Digital Wellbeing Initiative "Sync," have launched four national initiatives in digital sustainability under an MoU between the two parties during LEAP 26. The initiatives aim to promote digital wellbeing, advance research, studies, and academic programs, and foster a culture of digital well-being, contributing to maximizing the positive impact of technology on individuals and society.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the initiatives include awareness campaigns and workshops to promote digital wellbeing, develop studies and research in this field, and support specialized academic programs in digital regulation, in addition to joint programs with international organizations to foster a culture of digital well-being.
The initiatives seek to promote research and knowledge collaboration, issue studies and research on the impact of digital techs on individuals and society, hence supporting decision making and policy development. Along with building national capabilities, enriching knowledge content in digital sustainability and emerging technologies, and expanding collaboration with relevant local, regional, and international entities and organizations.
These initiatives build on the ongoing collaboration between CST and "Ithra" in the field of digital wellbeing, reinforcing CST's efforts to develop the digital sustainability ecosystem. Shifting from raising awareness to generating knowledge and research that support policies and decision-making, while promoting the responsible and sustainable use of digital technologies in line with the aspirations of Saudi Vision 2030.
