MAEE Wraps Up Hajj Campaign Focused on Water Conservation

Makkah: The National Water Efficiency and Conservation Center (MAEE) has concluded its awareness campaign for the 1447 AH Hajj season, aimed at promoting awareness of the importance of water conservation and improving water-use efficiency among pilgrims in the holy sites.

According to Saudi Press Agency, during the Hajj season, the MAEE implemented a range of field and digital awareness initiatives and programs targeting pilgrims and visitors. The content was delivered in 11 international languages, contributing to reinforcing positive practices regarding water use and conservation during the performance of the rituals.

The campaign included installing more than 3,000 awareness signs in restroom complexes and ablution facilities at the holy sites and in the courtyards of the Grand Mosque, in cooperation with Kidana Development Company, to promote efficient water use during ablution, among other awareness messages.

It also featured awareness initiatives targeting the hospitality sector in Makkah and Madinah, through the distribution of educational messages covering more than 17,500 hospitality units, with the participation of over 200 volunteers, aiming to reach the widest possible segment of pilgrims and workers in the sector.

To further enhance awareness among pilgrims, MAEE installed awareness signage in airports and at pilgrim rail stations, as well as in the courtyards of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, and conducted field visits to more than 100 pilgrim camps.

The MAEE affirmed that the campaign is an extension of its efforts to promote a culture of water awareness and sustainability concepts, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives to improve the efficiency of natural resource use and to preserve them.

It also praised the integration of government, private, and non-profit entities, which contributed to the campaign's success and the achievement of its awareness objectives during the Hajj season.
