King Abdulaziz Hospital in Makkah Removes Stones from Bangladeshi Pilgrim, Enabling Him to Perform Hajj

Makkah: Rapid intervention under the urgent care system, part of the Saudi healthcare model, contributed to saving the life of a Bangladeshi pilgrim suffering from gallstones. A medical team at King Abdulaziz Hospital successfully removed the stones, allowing the pilgrim to complete his Hajj rituals.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Makkah Health Cluster reported that the patient arrived at the emergency department with severe upper abdominal pain. Medical examinations confirmed the presence of gallstones, which had led to acute inflammation and fatigue.

The pilgrim was immediately admitted to the surgery department, and urgent coordination was made with the anesthesia, operations, and gastroenterology teams to transfer him to the operating room. A biliary duct endoscopy was performed, during which the gastroenterology team removed the stones, cleaned the gallbladder, and inserted a temporary stent.

The patient was then transferred back to the surgery department for continued care. His condition improved significantly within 24 hours, enabling him to complete his Hajj rituals with ease.
