Amman: Major General Turki Al-Malki, the Official Spokesperson of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, issued a statement today revealing that an agreement has been signed for the future release of 1,750 prisoners of war (POWs) and detainees from all Yemeni parties and coalition forces. This agreement includes 27 from coalition forces, seven of whom are Saudi POWs.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement was formalized in Amman, the capital of Jordan, this afternoon, Thursday, May 14, 2026. The signing was conducted between the Yemeni parties under the auspices of the United Nations Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, Hans Grundberg. The event was also attended by the Joint Forces Negotiations Committee.
The Joint Forces Command emphasized that the POWs and detainees file is purely humanitarian in nature and remains a priority for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen. The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all POWs and detainees are returned safely to their homes.
