Weqaa Center Enhances Biosecurity Through Spanish Poultry Expertise

Riyadh: Specialists from the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases (Weqaa Center) participated in a training workshop held at the Veterinary Sanitary Surveillance Center (VISAVET) of the Complutense University of Madrid. The workshop aimed to explore the latest biosecurity measures implemented in the European Union poultry sector. The initiative is part of a broader project to advance biosecurity procedures in livestock operations across the Kingdom.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the workshop included lectures and field visits that provided participants with insights into global best practices and facilitated knowledge transfer in biosecurity. The training enabled the specialists to benefit from European expertise in developing, managing, and applying biosecurity plans in poultry projects. These efforts are intended to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and epidemics in accordance with European standards.

This knowledge transfer represents a preparatory step toward local implementation in Saudi Arabia, contributing to the long-term sustainability of food security. Saudi Arabia is recognized as a regional pioneer in the poultry industry, and the Weqaa Center continues to enhance and modernize the biosecurity system in this vital sector.
