The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the necessity of overcoming the problems and crises occurring in Kirkuk Governorate.
A presidential statement stated: “The President met today with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, and his accompanying delegation, which included the Deputy Prime Minister of the Regional Government, Qubad Talabani, the Regional Ministers of Interior and Finance, Reber Ahmed, Awat Sheikh Janab, the Chief of the Regional Government Office, Amid Sabah, and a number of other government officials.”
It added: "During the meeting, the issue of the relationship between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government was discussed, as the President expressed his confidence in the keenness of both sides to resolve all outstanding issues in accordance with the constitution and the law and in a way that establishes security and stability in the country."
The President of the Republic affirmed his support for the regional government delegation as a joint and unified team, stressing the need for efforts to be made by all governmental and political parties to expedite the payment of salaries to Kurdistan Region employees.
He stressed the need to overcome the problems and crises occurring in Kirkuk Governorate and adhere to the implementation of decisions related to administrative changes in it, according to the political agreement that was concluded during the recent meeting of the State Administration Coalition.
In turn, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government stressed the importance of the constitutional role of the Presidency of the Republic and the efforts made by the President to bring the views of the heads of the political blocs closer together in order to expedite the disbursement of the salaries of the region’s employees just like the federal government employees.
Masrour Barzani called for a radical solution to the problem of financial entitlements to the region and employee salaries by amending the budget law, and the necessity of finding an immediate solution to disburse the salaries of Kurdistan region employees by the Council of Ministers, expressing his thanks and appreciation to the President of the Republic for his keenness and interest in this matter.
