SDAIA Claims Top Open Data Initiative Prize at GCC Digital Government Awards

Jeddah: The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) won the best open data initiative award in the “distinguished” category for its National Open Data Platform. The prize was presented yesterday in Kuwait at the sixth GCC Digital Government Awards.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the platform is a pioneering national initiative that allows both government and non-government entities to publish their open data, making it available to beneficiaries and entrepreneurs. This contribution helps boost community engagement and stimulate innovation in line with the best local and international standards.

SDAIA’s success is a testament to its efforts in data governance, achieving economic impact, and improving data quality across the Kingdom. This includes developing regulatory tools, policies, and procedures that ensure optimal data utilization and enhance its use across various sectors.

The “Digital Government Award” is an initiative of the GCC General Secretariat. It aims to encourage government entities in member states to develop their digital services and adopt the best global practices and standards in digital transformation, thereby supporting the building of a digital economy and a fully integrated knowledge-based society.
