Geneva: The Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva participated in the interactive dialogue on the report of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for Sudan.
According to Saudi Press Agency, delivering the Kingdom’s statement, Director General of the General Administration of Humanitarian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Salem Al-Qahtani reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for Sudan and its people. He emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and humanitarian workers, prioritizing the interests of the Sudanese people, and ending the conflict to preserve the country’s institutions, unity, sovereignty, and security.
Al-Qahtani highlighted the Kingdom’s mediation efforts through the Jeddah talks between the two parties in Sudan, resulting in the Jeddah Declaration on May 11, 2023. This declaration emphasized a commitment to protecting civilians and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The mission also reiterated the Kingdom’s opposition to any actions outside Sudan’s official institutions and affirmed ongoing diplomatic efforts in coordination with regional and international partners. Saudi Arabia called on the global community to support Sudan and assist its people during this critical phase.
Saudi Arabia extended condolences to Sudan over the recent landslide disaster in Jebel Marra, expressing solidarity with Sudan and conveying wishes for the country’s peace, prosperity, and stability.
