The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the G20 Ministerial Conference on Women's Empowerment with a delegation headed by the Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council, Dr. Maymouna bint Khalil Al-Khalil, to examine the theme "Women-led Inclusive Development as Cusp of Inter-Generational Transformation" and to focus on the priority themes of the G20 states: education, entrepreneurship and partnerships to enhance women's leadership, as well as the role of women as change makers to resist climate change and the digital skills that support priority fields.
The delegation's participation in the conference aims to stress the Kingdom's position and leadership in the areas of innovation and technology and its commitment to achieving integrative gender equality and ensuring equal opportunities for their contributions to the digital transformation process through reviewing the leading and qualitative national efforts and achievements in the sector, mainly via highlighting women's empowerment initiative in the communications and information technology sector. The initiative of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Empowering Women in Cyber Security, highlights the non-profit sector's empowering efforts in the areas of technological change, in addition to reviewing the package of initiatives and programs launched by the Kingdom to enhance women's contribution to development.
Al-Khalil explained that this international event is an opportunity to review achievements in women's empowerment in the Kingdom within the context of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Saudi Vision 2030, and to acquaint the international community with the progress made on this year's theme of innovation and technological change, noting that the Kingdom's participating delegation will highlight the role of the Kingdom's initiatives in bridging the gender gap by promoting women's opportunities to ensure their active participation in the process of digital transformation at the local and international levels, which is based on the Kingdom's firm belief in the importance of women's empowerment in all areas.
