Madinah: The Roads General Authority stressed the full readiness of the road network in the Madinah Region to receive pilgrims following the completion of their Hajj rituals for 1446 AH, as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure their smooth and safe movement.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority stated that it has implemented projects covering a total of 3,000 kilometers, including road fence maintenance, the installation of 400 meters of metal and protective barriers, and the inspection and maintenance of more than 247 bridges. These efforts aim to enhance traffic flow, improve road quality, and ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims during their travel. The authority also deployed mobile stations along the Hijrah Road linking Madinah and Makkah to provide immediate emergency support through the unified call center 938.
It further reiterated its commitment to implementing vital projects and initiatives to develop the road sector, in line with the sector’s strategic objectives. These include achieving sixth place globally in the Road Quality Index by 2030, reducing road traffic fatalities to fewer than five per 100,000 people, applying road safety measures based on the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP), and enhancing the network’s capacity.
