Roads Authority Delivers Wide-Ranging Services to Pilgrims During Hajj Season 1446 AH

Makkah: The Roads General Authority announced that the total number of vehicles traveling on roads leading to Makkah and Madinah exceeded 5 million during the 1446 AH Hajj season. More than 500,000 pilgrims benefited from cold rubberized roads in the holy sites, while 1,900 pilgrims made use of mobile service stations equipped with air conditioning units, rest areas, restrooms, meals, and beverages. The ‘Road Tent’ initiative also served about 2,700 pilgrims, and around 350,000 individuals benefited from the road safety enhancement initiative on routes leading to the holy sites.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority also reported that a total of 7,401 kilometers of roads leading to the holy sites in Makkah and Madinah were rehabilitated. Completed road projects spanned 23,421 kilometers, utilizing more than 20 modern technologies to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.

The authority stressed that the road sector is a key enabler of the Hajj and Umrah sectors, and it is responsible for organizing the sector and establishing the necessary policies and regulations. Strategic goals are focused on safety, quality, and traffic capacity.

Saudi Arabia’s road network, which spans over 73,000 kilometers, ranks first globally in terms of connectivity, facilitating the movement of pilgrims and visitors to tourist destinations and reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a leading religious center.
