Riyadh Governor Attends Closing Ceremony of Camel Festival Under King Salman’s Patronage

Riyadh: Under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of Riyadh Region Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz attended the closing ceremony of the 3rd Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Camel Festival, which saw participation from 11 countries.

According to Saudi Press Agency, upon his arrival at the historic Al-Janadriyah Camel Race Track, Prince Faisal bin Bandar was welcomed by Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC) Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, SOPC Vice President and President of the Saudi Camel Federation Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, along with several officials from the Federation.

The ceremony commenced with the playing of the Royal Anthem, followed by Prince Faisal bin Bandar crowning the winning owners. The event featured four races over a 6-kilometer distance, involving 65 camels, and saw intense competition between local and international camel owners. A total of SAR75 million in cash prizes was distributed to the winning owners across the various race categories.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Camel Festival is recognized as one of the Kingdom's significant annual heritage sports events, attracting top local and international camel owners. The festival aims to enhance the international profile of camel racing as a part of the national identity, support its development, and demonstrate the Kingdom's capability in hosting major events to high organizational standards.
