Makkah: The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has intensified field operations to enhance the readiness of bridges, tunnels, and lighting infrastructure in Makkah and the holy sites ahead of the 1447 AH Hajj season, improving safety and supporting the smooth movement of pilgrims along their routes.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry stated that works included raising the efficiency of 92 bridge intersections, preparing 62 pedestrian and vehicle tunnels, and completing road markings exceeding 110,000 linear meters. It also operates more than 330,000 lighting units and 150,000 lighting poles across Makkah and the holy sites, with round-the-clock maintenance to ensure infrastructure efficiency throughout the Hajj season.
The ministry has also prepared more than 4,500 male and female volunteers through the municipal volunteering system to serve pilgrims at vital locations, entry points, and roads leading to the holy sites.
