Riyadh-- King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) yesterday signed an agreement with Al Basar International Foundation to implement the first phase of rehabilitating the new building of Mecca Medicine Eye Hospital in Omdurman, the Republic of Sudan.

KSrelief Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Beez and member of the board of director of Al Basar International Foundation Dr. Ziad bin Abdullah Al-Sweidan signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions at KSrelief's headquarters.

The agreement aims at rehabilitating the ground floor at the new hospital building to accommodate and cover the needs of eye patients and provide them with necessary medical services.

Omdurman is among the highest density Sudanese cities, where its population stands at five million people according to a report issued by the Sudanese Ministry of Health, which also shows that those who need eye medicine services stand at around 1.5 million people annually, which increases burdens on specialized hospitals in the eye medicine field that provide their medical services to only 17% of the demand.

This is part of the relief and humanitarian efforts offered by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, to several needy and afflicted countries around the world.
