KSrelief Launches Solar-Powered Artesian Wells Project in Taiz Governorate

Taiz: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) inaugurated the drilling of three artesian wells in Taiz Governorate, Yemen, as part of a project aimed at sustainably enhancing access to safe and clean water for residents.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the project includes drilling wells at an average depth of 400 meters each, equipping them with submersible pumping units and related technical components, and installing integrated solar power systems to ensure continuous operation and reduce reliance on fuel derivatives.

It also involves supplying, installing, and operating solar energy systems for three existing wells to improve their efficiency, as well as training technical staff at the local water corporation in Taiz on the operation and maintenance of water systems to ensure service sustainability. In addition, awareness campaigns will be conducted for the local community on the rational use of water and the protection of water sources from pollution.

The initiative reflects the humanitarian and relief projects provided by the Kingdom through its humanitarian arm, KSrelief, aimed at strengthening the water and environmental sanitation sector and providing potable water in areas in need in Taiz Governorate.
