KFCRIS Chairman Explores Manuscript Conservation Efforts in Tunisia

Tunis: Chairman of the Board of Directors of King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS) Prince Turki bin Faisal visited the National Museum of Islamic Arts of Raqqada-Kairouan in the Republic of Tunisia as part of his cultural visit to Tunisia.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the visit included a tour of the museum's collection of artworks, manuscripts, and artifacts reflecting the history of Arab-Islamic arts in Tunisia and the Islamic West. Among the highlights were pages from the "Blue Quran," one of the rarest manuscripts in the Islamic world, distinguished by its golden script on blue-dyed parchment.

Prince Turki also visited the Raqqada National Laboratory for the Preservation and Conservation of Parchment and Manuscripts. He reviewed the laboratory's work in preserving, maintaining, and restoring manuscripts, as well as its scientific efforts in treating historical documents.
