Abu Dhabi: Secretary General of the King Abdullah International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) Dr. Zuhair Alharthi and Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahyan discussed ways to strengthen international efforts to protect children’s rights and promote interfaith and intercultural dialogue.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during the 6th Global Interfaith Network for Children (GNRC) Forum in Abu Dhabi, both officials emphasized the critical role of UN organizations in promoting peace and sustainable development, particularly for communities affected by conflict and division. They also stressed the need to combat hate speech and violence, especially among young people.
Dr. Alharthi noted that Abu Dhabi’s hosting of the forum underscores the UAE’s significant contribution to global peace and stability, emphasizing its strong support for UN initiatives.
Furthermore, KAICIID and the Arigatou International Foundation signed
a renewed memorandum of understanding to strengthen their partnership, address global challenges and promote peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths and cultures.
During the signing ceremony, both Dr. Alharthi and the President of Arigatou International, Keishi Miyamoto, reaffirmed their commitment to fostering interfaith and intercultural dialogue, addressing global challenges, and promoting peace and social cohesion. They emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to achieve tangible results in these areas, particularly in combating violence in the name of religion and protecting children’s rights.
In a joint statement, both parties highlighted their long-standing cooperation in promoting interfaith and intercultural dialogue. They also emphasized the success of the Ethics Education Fellowship Program, a joint initiative that aims to enhance ethical education in several countries.
