‘Jusoor – Design Collections’ Exhibition Concludes First International Participation at Milan Design Week 2026

Milan: The Architecture and Design Commission concluded the 'Jusoor Design Collections' exhibition during its first international participation at Milan Design Week 2026, held in the historic Brera district in Milan, Italy, from April 21 to 26. The exhibition served as a global platform to showcase Saudi Arabia's creative movement at one of the world's most prominent design events.

According to Saudi Press Agency, 'Jusoor Design Collections' is part of the 'Designed in Saudi' initiative. The commission selected a group of Saudi designers to participate in a collaborative experience with leading international design brands. This journey extended across several cities, including Riyadh, New Delhi, Kathmandu, and Barcelona, forming a creative trajectory in which designers developed contemporary works that engage with Saudi cultural identity through a global perspective.

The exhibition attracted notable attendance from design professionals and enthusiasts from around the world. It presented a range of contemporary design experiences developed by a distinguished group of Saudi designers in collaboration with leading global brands. The works reflected the diversity of creative practices in the Kingdom and their ability to blend local cultural identity with modern design trends.

The exhibition featured four key works exploring the relationship between material, identity, and cultural narrative. Designer Motaz Abbas, in collaboration with Studio Kloof, presented the 'Thunoon' lamp, inspired by the flexibility and aesthetics of nature, redefining the relationship between technology and creativity. Architect Aseel Al-Amoudi, also in collaboration with the same studio, presented 'Takween', offering a design exploration of the contrast between natural, crafted, and industrial materials within an innovative visual context.

In the same vein, the 'Cora' collection by designers Abeer Al-Rubaiah and Albandari Sulaiman, in collaboration with Iwan Maktabi, reflected contemporary Saudi creativity by drawing inspiration from Red Sea coral reefs. The collection transformed handwoven carpets into three-dimensional pieces that capture the rhythm and color diversity of marine life. Designer Saud Al-Saleh also participated with his work 'Tah,' in collaboration with LaGranja Design, presenting an unconventional sculptural formation that embodies concepts of movement and exploration.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Architecture and Design Commission organized a panel discussion in which participating designers shared the development journey of their works from initial concept to final product, along with insights reflecting the evolution of the creative scene in Saudi Arabia. The session also highlighted the role of the 'Jusoor - Design Collections' program in empowering Saudi designers to produce innovative work by fostering dialogue and cultural exchange with international partners across multiple countries.

The 'Jusoor - Design Collections' exhibition reaffirms the commission's efforts to further develop the design sector in Saudi Arabia and strengthen its presence. This is achieved by empowering national talents, expanding collaboration opportunities between designers and international partners, and spotlighting the Kingdom's growing creative movement in the field of design.
