Jeddah: The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a strong condemnation of the ongoing cross-border attacks by Houthi militias targeting Saudi Arabia.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the commission highlighted that these attacks deliberately target civilians, including women and children, as well as civilian infrastructure and vital energy facilities within the Kingdom. The commission expressed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and emphasized the importance of safeguarding civilian safety and security at all times.

The commission declared that the Houthi assaults on civilians and their infrastructure are blatant violations of international humanitarian law. It stressed that these continuous attacks pose serious threats to fundamental human rights, particularly affecting the rights to life, security, and physical safety. These actions instill fear and insecurity, jeopardizing regional peace and stability.

Furthermore, the commission reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's right and responsibility, under international law, to protect its citizens and infrastructure from unlawful terrorist activities. The need to hold Houthi militias accountable for their violations of international law was underscored, advocating for accountability and appropriate remedies for the victims.

The commission urged the international community, including the United Nations and relevant international and regional bodies, to condemn unequivocally these attacks on civilians and infrastructure. It called for increased diplomatic efforts to prevent further occurrences and escalation. The commission also expressed support for coordinated efforts to enforce international law and promote peace and stability in Yemen and the surrounding region.
