Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs are nearing the signing of a new memorandum of understanding to enhance humanitarian cooperation. The recent meeting, held at the OIC General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah, was led by Ambassador Dr. Tariq Ali Bakheet and Mr. Mohammed Khater, focusing on the memorandum's final draft.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the discussions aimed at solidifying a joint action plan that emphasizes field coordination, information exchange, capacity building, and providing humanitarian support to OIC member states facing crises and emergencies. This initiative is considered a pivotal move towards more coordinated humanitarian efforts.

The meeting marks a significant step towards finalizing the memorandum, which is expected to be signed during the United Nations General Assembly meetings. The agreement seeks to bolster humanitarian actions and support vulnerable groups across OIC member states.
