ICAIRE Discusses Saudi Arabia’s AI Readiness Assessment Report by UNESCO with Global Experts

Riyadh: The International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), affiliated with UNESCO, discussed today UNESCO’s Artificial Intelligence Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM) Report for Saudi Arabia, featuring key insights from the Kingdom. A select group of local and international experts specializing in AI technologies attended the discussion at ICAIRE’s headquarters in Riyadh.

According to Saudi Press Agency, participants examined the report, which provided a detailed explanation of the assessment methodology developed by UNESCO. This methodology aims to evaluate countries’ readiness to develop and adopt AI, including data collection from stakeholders, offering RAM questionnaires, and subsequently issuing reports that clarify recommendations to ensure the country’s readiness for AI ethics.

The meeting also addressed the upcoming UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, scheduled to take place from June 24 to 27, 2025, in Thailand. Participants discussed opportunities for involvement in the forum by submitting specialized research in the field of AI ethics, aiming to explore the latest developments and challenges associated with the responsible and sustainable use of AI, while enhancing international cooperation in this area.

This global meeting aligns with the findings highlighted in the Saudi Arabia Artificial Intelligence Readiness Assessment Report published by UNESCO in December 2024, which commended the achievements made by the Kingdom in this domain. The report spotlighted Saudi Arabia’s efforts to develop digital infrastructure and strengthen regulatory and legislative frameworks supporting AI, contributing to establishing an advanced AI ecosystem that fosters innovation and supports sustainable development in line with the objectives of Vision 2030.
