Riyadh: The Ministry of Commerce announced the results of its evaluation of 100 e-stores in the first phase of its compliance assessment, based on 10 criteria designed to safeguard shopper rights and enhance service quality.
According to Saudi Press Agency, all evaluated stores achieved 100% compliance with the standard for maintaining a secure and high-quality website, which measures site speed, ease of use, and cybersecurity protections. They also achieved 99% compliance in providing accessible customer service communication channels and offering clear policies for exchanges, returns, and refunds.
Compliance rates ranged between 96% and 91% across four key standards, including publishing a consumer data protection and privacy policy; providing a shipping and delivery policy that outlines consumer rights and responsibilities; displaying the commercial registration number and tax number; and showing all necessary licenses on the store’s homepage.
Meanwhile, compliance ranged between 79% and 75% for three criteria: publishing a customer complaints and suggestions policy, authenticating the online store through the Saudi Business Center, and verifying the store’s link in the commercial register.
The ministry noted that the evaluation aims to raise compliance levels, protect consumer rights, and enable e-stores to improve their services. The full results of the assessment are available on the ministry’s website.
