Al-Jawhara and Aseel Secure First Place Arab-wide, Ninth Globally in World Robot Olympiad 2024.

Riyadh: The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) International Final 2024, held in Trkiye from November 26 to 30 with the participation of over 90 countries, concluded with Al-Jawhara bint Saud Al-Qahtani and Aseel bint Abdulaziz Al-Jasser securing first place among Arab nations and ninth globally in their debut under the “Future Engineers” category.

According to Saudi Press Agency, this global competition aimed at showcasing youth creativity through robotics and artificial intelligence technologies is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Saudi Federation for Robotics and RC Sports, Tuwaiq Academy, and Tatweer for Educational Technologies (TETCO).

In a statement, Al-Jawhara and Aseel emphasized that this joint achievement was the result of several months of work during an intensive camp at Tuwaiq Academy. They explained that the robot was built using advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies, along with 3D printing techniques for its design and production. It als
o incorporated advanced sensors linked to camera and radar technologies.

The project was implemented in accordance with WRO regulations.

Saudi Arabia participated in the WRO International Final 2024 with 15 teams comprising 30 students from various regions of the Kingdom, supported by 11 advisors and 15 technical trainers.

The competition featured several categories, including Robo Missions, Robo Sports, Innovators of the Future, and Future Engineers.

The WRO is an annual global technology competition open to participants of all age groups from around the world. The intensive training camp for participants was held at Tuwaiq Academy, the training arm of the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones, aiming to enhance students’ creativity, design capabilities, and problem-solving skills through robotics competitions and activities aligned with educational plans.
