Zubaydah Trail: A Landmark Route of Pilgrimage, Trade, and Cultural Heritage

Riyadh: Zubaydah Trail, passing through Northern Borders Region, represents great historical value as a route for caravans, pilgrims, and trade during the early Islamic eras. The trail is one of the most famous roads linking Makkah with Kufa in southern Iraq and parts of the Levant, with its ruins still standing to this day.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the trail went beyond being merely a route for pilgrims to become a passage for civilizations and a carrier of culture and trade through time, as it formed a main route for pilgrims and travelers throughout the Islamic eras.

The section of Zubaydah Trail located within Saudi Arabia begins in Rafha Governorate in Northern Borders Region and extends southward to Makkah over a distance exceeding 1,400 kilometers.

Zubaydah Trail and other historic Hajj routes have received continuous attention from Saudi Arabia since its establishment, recognizing their historical and civilizational value as bridges for human communication and symbols of Islamic heritage.
