Riyadh: Jazan Region’s diverse landscape, shaped by valleys descending from the eastern mountains, has been transformed over time by flowing waters into fertile lands and lush pastures, sustaining an agricultural renaissance that supports thriving villages and cities.

According to Saudi Press Agency, historians and poets have documented these valleys, recognizing them as historical landmarks renowned for their natural beauty, rich vegetation, and seasonal agriculture. Researcher Mohammed bin Hassan Abu Aqeel examines the historical significance of Jazan’s valleys, highlighting their impact on local life as symbols of agricultural abundance. He notes that the season of joy begins with thunder and rain, followed by the scent of floodwaters, which signals farmers to prepare for planting.

He emphasized that the flow of the valleys marks a renewed planting season for various types of sorghum and sesame, beginning with the autumn season on August 23. Jazan is renowned for its diverse sorghum varieties, as well as for yellow corn.

The strong connection between local residents and the valleys has established them as a cultural, social, and economic hub, enhancing Jazan’s appeal as a tourist destination. Nature lovers are drawn to its scenic landscapes, featuring cornfields and green plains dotted with tamarisk, Salvadora persica, palm, and acacia trees.
