US Congress Honors MWL Secretary-General for Anti-Hate Efforts

Washington: Republican and Democratic members of the US Congress honored Muslim World League (MWL) Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa at the Capitol Building in Washington, in recognition of the league's role and efforts in combating hate and promoting coexistence among religious communities.

According to Saudi Press Agency, a number of members of the House of Representatives and the Senate signed the certificate of recognition, which commended those efforts and supported the cohesion of the fabric of social diversity to limit conflict and division, particularly international efforts focused on countering racist attitudes that target the security and dignity of followers of religions and ethnicities.

Leaders of the Muslim community, who attended the ceremony, described it as an honor for all members of the Muslim community in the United States, noting that it represents the first event of its kind at the Capitol Building.

Al-Issa noted that the recognized efforts represent Islamic values that call for global peace and harmony among societies, affirming MWL's continued work to promote positive and effective dialogue among all to support a culture of understanding, awareness, and cooperation, based on understanding Allah's wisdom in the inevitable diversity of the world, and thus comprehending differences among all and dealing with them through a conscious and civilized approach, rather than a logic of conflict and confrontation.

Congress members then delivered remarks at the ceremony, highlighting the MWL's efforts in light of the reasons for the recognition.
