Umm Al-Qura University, Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Launch Hackathon to Enhance Pilgrimage Experience

Umm Al-Qura: Umm Al-Qura University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, has launched the second edition of the Historical and Enrichment Sites Hackathon, aimed at enhancing the experience of visitors and pilgrims. The competition, the first of its kind, seeks to develop innovative knowledge-based solutions for historical and religious sites in Makkah and Madinah.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the hackathon is open to Saudi university students, designers, planners, and software developers, focusing on reviving and enriching key historical and cultural locations. Participants will compete across multiple tracks, including area design and planning, interactive interfaces, and innovative content creation.

The event serves as a platform for young innovators to develop technological and interactive solutions, such as smart applications and augmented reality experiences. These advancements aim to make historical sites more engaging and informative.
