Islamabad: Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al Shaibani described Trkiye as a key partner in Syria's reconstruction during his official visit to Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of the historical ties and the extensive border shared between the two nations, indicating a positive diplomatic relationship.

According to TRTworld.com, al Shaibani addressed questions about the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement signed by Trkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan earlier this month. He mentioned that Syria had not yet decided whether to join this alliance and would make a decision in the future. Al Shaibani reiterated the role of Trkiye as a vital partner in the reconstruction of Syria.

Al Shaibani also touched upon potential contacts with Iran, stating that Tehran must first acknowledge its actions towards the Syrian people. He commended Pakistan's role in facilitating dialogue between the US and Iran but noted that Islamabad had not offered to mediate between Syria and Iran.
