Riyadh: Saudi women now account for 84% of the workforce in the Kingdom’s transport and logistics sector, according to Vice Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Acting President of the Transport General Authority Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Al-Rumaih addressed the second edition of the Global Labor Market Conference in Riyadh, which was held from January 29-30. He noted a significant 100% increase in sector employment over the past four years, underscoring the substantial rise in Saudi women’s contribution to the workforce. Additionally, Saudi participation in the sector has increased to 47%, with 66% of jobs now requiring high-level skills.

Dr. Al-Rumaih commended the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development for its partnership in promoting sector growth and emphasized the ongoing efforts to localize jobs. The ministry aims to create 300,000 job opportunities in the forthcoming phase, aligning with the broader objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

As part of these initiatives, the vice minister announced the establishment of non-profit academies across various transport and logistics fields. These academies are intended to nurture local talent and better equip professionals for the labor market, further supporting the Kingdom’s strategic goals.
