Seminar Links Muwashshahat, Pantun at Kuala Lumpur Book Fair

Kuala lumpur: A cultural seminar was held as part of the cultural program led by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission during the Kingdom's participation as guest of honor at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2026. The event was attended by people interested in literature, music, and Arab and Asian cultures.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the seminar explored parallels between Andalusian muwashshahat and Malaysian pantun, two poetic forms that emerged in different settings but share rhythmic structure, musical composition, and ties to popular sentiment. The speaker reviewed the two forms as poetic arts united by rhythm, concision, and connections to popular sentiment despite their different cultural contexts.
