SDRPY Improves Living Conditions in Yemen

Riyadh: The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) is actively contributing to strengthening local communities by providing training, capacity-building, and advisory support across key sectors. Its initiatives focus on empowering women, youth, and communities economically while investing in human capital and improving livelihoods.

According to Saudi Press Agency, one of its flagship projects, “Adequate Housing,” aims to enhance living conditions for Yemeni families. Implemented in partnership with Alwaleed Philanthropies and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), the project focuses on improving housing conditions in Aden.

As the first of its kind in Yemen’s housing sector, the project has rehabilitated 650 residential units in Aden’s Al-Mualla and Khor Maksar districts, benefiting over 4,500 people from 900 families in need. It aligns with efforts to create better urban living conditions. Beyond housing, the project has built workforce capacity in the construction and housing sectors, generating thousands of jobs and hundreds of training opportunities. These initiatives enhance sustainable development and community growth.

Such programs, driven by a holistic, community-centered approach, enhance essential services and serve as models for broader community development. They benefit families, individuals, and professionals working in the housing sector alike.

SDRPY has launched 264 projects across eight critical sectors, including education, healthcare, water, energy, transportation, agriculture and fisheries, government capacity building, and general development programs-reaching communities across various Yemeni provinces.
