Abdulrahman Alfadley. The project has a total cost of SAR 8.5 billion.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Prince Dr. Faisal highlighted the significance of this vital project, which reflects the continued support and commitment of the wise leadership to developing the national water infrastructure and enhancing water security across the Kingdom, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. He welcomed the minister and commended his dedication to overseeing projects that improve the efficiency of the water sector’s infrastructure. He also expressed his gratitude to all entities involved in the project for their efforts in achieving sustainable development and ensuring the delivery of water to all beneficiaries according to the highest standards.
Meanwhile, Eng. Alfadley expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the governor for his support and patronage of regional development projects. The minister highlighted the private sector’s vital role in advancing the water sector, emphasizing that such partnerships enhance service quality, improve spending efficiency, and leverage private sector expertise in construction, operation, and management. The project represents a pivotal step in strengthening water security in the Kingdom by linking the Eastern and Qassim regions with desalinated drinking water. It extends over 587 kilometers, with a design transport capacity of up to 650,000 cubic meters per day.
The project is distinguished by its reverse pumping capability from Al-Shimasiyah Governorate through Al-Qulayyib to Jubail City, ensuring the highest levels of continuous water supply. This aligns with the ministry’s plans for regional water connectivity across the Kingdom. The project also includes the construction of a comprehensive system of strategic reservoirs to ensure sustainable water supply and improve distribution efficiency in both regions. This will involve building six strategic reservoirs in Al-Shimasiyah Governorate and three in Jubail City, with a total capacity of 1,634,500 cubic meters.
