Saudi Water Sector: Strategic Transmission Networks Ensure Reliable Supply for Pilgrims

Jeddah: The Saudi water sector continues the implementation of its operational plan for this year’s Hajj season within an integrated framework led by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) plays a regulatory and supervisory role, ensuring full compliance and operational efficiency. The focus is on the critical role of water transmission and distribution networks, which are essential for maintaining uninterrupted service during the Hajj season and for meeting the growing water demand in Makkah and the holy sites.

According to Saudi Press Agency, these strategic infrastructure networks span more than 1,316 kilometers and operate at the highest standards of efficiency to ensure continuous water flow at peak times. The daily production capacity through these networks reaches 1.2 million cubic meters to cover periods of peak demand, while average daily pumping reaches approximately 1 million cubic meters during the Day of Arafah and Eid Al-Adha, underscoring the full readiness of all sectors to meet demand.

All these efforts are carried out under the theme ‘Tarwiyah,’ which reflects the water sector’s commitment to delivering sustainable and safe services. This aligns with the ministry’s vision to promote sustainability and innovation, utilizing resources and capabilities to provide pilgrims with the highest levels of reliability and comfort, contributing to the continued success of the Hajj season year after year.
