Saudi Representative to UN Highlights Labor Market Reforms at International Forum

New york: Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil, participated in the second International Migration Review Forum at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. He emphasized the importance of international partnerships in managing regular migration while respecting countries' sovereignty and national priorities, which can contribute to development and mutual benefits.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ambassador highlighted Saudi Arabia's submission of its first voluntary national report on the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration. This submission reflects an institutional approach to monitoring progress in this area. He also reviewed significant labor market and expatriate workforce reforms introduced as part of Saudi Vision 2030.

Ambassador Alwasil stressed that regular migration can be an opportunity to support growth when managed effectively. He noted that remittances from residents in the Kingdom are projected to reach approximately $44 billion in 2025, which will contribute to the economies of sending countries and support sustainable development.
