New york: Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel participated in a UN Security Council session on Yemen in light of the humanitarian, political, and security conditions.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Al-Wasel reiterated the Kingdom's support for the president of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Presidential Leadership Council, and the Yemeni government in achieving security, stability, development, and peace, in a manner that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people.
He expressed the Kingdom's regret over the military operations carried out by the Southern Transitional Council along the Kingdom's southern border in Hadhramaut and Al-Mahrah governorates, describing them as a threat to the Kingdom's national security and to security and stability in Yemen and the region.
Al-Wasel conveyed the Kingdom's welcome of the agreement signed in the Sultanate of Oman for the exchange of prisoners and detainees in Yemen, considering it an important humanitarian step that contributes to alleviating human suffering and enhancing confidence-building opportunities.
He also noted the Kingdom's response to the request of President of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, which included a call to convene a comprehensive conference in Riyadh bringing together all southern components to sit at the dialogue table and discuss fair solutions to the southern issue.
Al-Wasel stressed the importance of cooperation among all Yemeni forces and components and exerting all efforts to reach a lasting solution that leads to achieving security and stability in Yemen.
