Amman: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts at regional and international levels to address challenges in the water sector and overcome water scarcity in many countries across the region. The Kingdom highlighted its ongoing commitment to supporting water-related initiatives and delivering high-quality, efficient water services.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this statement was made during the leadership of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Water, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Shaibani, of the Kingdom’s delegation at the sixteenth session of the Arab Ministerial Water Council and the Sixth Arab Water Conference. These events, along with their accompanying meetings, began today in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and will continue for two days, attended by water ministers and officials from Arab countries.
Dr. Al-Shaibani stressed the importance of enhancing Arab and international cooperation and integration to tackle global water sector chall
enges and develop effective solutions. He also highlighted the need for opportunities to exchange expertise and experiences between nations to maximize water resource utilization and support joint efforts to provide high-quality water services, aligning with the aspirations of regional leaders and their populations.
Dr. Al-Shaibani further acknowledged the significant efforts made by the Kingdom to ensure water availability and improve related services. He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s consistent efforts to support water issues regionally and internationally through coordination and collaboration among nations. He noted that many Arab countries are situated in semi-arid regions, which exacerbates challenges in water provision due to the increasing frequency of droughts. He underscored the importance of the Arab Ministerial Water Council’s work, emphasizing its effective role in fostering coordination among countries.
