Cesenatico: The Saudi informatics team achieved three international awards at the 2026 European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI), held in Cesenatico, Italy, from May 12 to 18, with the participation of more than 248 female students from 68 countries.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the students won one bronze medal and two certificates of appreciation, raising the Kingdom's total in the competition to 10 international awards, including two silver medals, six bronze medals, and two certificates of appreciation.
Saudi Arabia participates in EGOI, represented by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) in partnership with the Ministry of Education, for the fifth consecutive time since 2022. This participation reflects Mawhiba's efforts to qualify male and female students for international scientific competitions through a structured training journey that begins with discovery and nomination stages, passes through local competitions and intensive training camps, and culminates in representing the Kingdom in international forums.
EGOI is an annual international individual programming competition for girls interested in computer science, based on solving advanced algorithmic and programming problems that require high-level skills in analysis, design, and implementation.
