Saudi Arabia Maintains Prominent Global Presence at the World Urban Forum

Riyadh: Launched by UN-Habitat, the World Urban Forum (WUF) is a premier global event for sustainable urban development and housing, uniting governments and experts to address urban challenges. Since 2001, Saudi Arabia has actively participated in WUF's biennial sessions, sharing initiatives in housing, urban planning, and digital transformation to promote economic growth and global expertise exchange.

According to Saudi Press Agency, in Rio de Janeiro, the Madinah Municipality showcased its urban observatory as a model for regional monitoring. In Naples, a high-level Saudi delegation addressed "The Urban Future," focusing on urbanization and climate change. During the Medell­n forum, themed "Urban Equity in Development - Cities for Life," the Kingdom reviewed its National Housing Strategy, which aligns with the UN's Global Housing Strategy 2025 to improve citizen access to adequate housing.

In Abu Dhabi, themed "Cities of Opportunity: Connecting Culture and Innovation," the Madinah Region Development Authority presented its successful model for humanizing cities and innovative urban renewal, while the Royal Commission for AlUla introduced its sustainable development model for Hegra, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Simultaneously, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing highlighted its progress toward the Vision 2030 goal of 70% homeownership, showcasing regulatory programs and attractive housing environments.

At the forum in Katowice, Poland, themed "Transforming our Cities for a Better Urban Future," the Kingdom highlighted its Quality of Life Program and efforts to preserve cultural identity. The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen presented infrastructure projects that improved basic services and created jobs in Yemen. Additionally, the Architecture and Design Commission held a session on the King Salman Charter for Architecture and Urbanism's philosophy.

In Egypt, the Kingdom participated with a 3,000-square-meter pavilion featuring over 30 entities. Led by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, it highlighted Vision 2030's Housing Program and initiatives for vibrant communities. The Architecture and Design Commission discussed trends in sustainable cities, while the Riyadh Municipality focused on comprehensive planning, sustainable transport, and waste management. Finally, the Real Estate General Authority reviewed its legislative systems, including property registration and off-plan sales, emphasizing the role of digital transformation in the Saudi real estate market.
