Doha: Saudi Arabia participated as a guest of honor at the 13th edition of the Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ 2026), which opened Thursday at Katara Cultural Village in Doha. Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley attended the exhibition, along with a number of officials and ambassadors.

According to Saudi Press Agency, on the sidelines of the exhibition, the Saudi delegation highlighted the Kingdom's efforts to strengthen the agricultural sector's capabilities and promote private-sector engagement in advancing sustainable agriculture. The delegation also underscored the role of agricultural food-processing industries in enhancing food security at both the local and regional levels.

Several national companies specializing in date production and processing took part in the event, showcasing their products and competitive advantages in domestic and international markets. The Kingdom has achieved tangible progress in raising self-sufficiency levels across several agricultural products.

Saudi Arabia showcased self-sufficiency rates of 118% for dates, 101% for eggs, 78% for vegetables, 69% for poultry, and 61.5% for fish. These figures reflect significant strides in boosting domestic production and reducing reliance on imports.

Moreover, the Kingdom presented a range of incentives aimed at encouraging investment in modern agricultural technologies and innovation. These include the allocation of investment land, financing through the Agricultural Development Fund, streamlined licensing procedures, and the provision of technical and advisory support to investors.

To enhance the quality and safety of national products, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has launched four quality labels for Saudi food products to strengthen their competitiveness locally and internationally: 'Organic,' 'SAMAQ,' 'Saudi Dates Mark,' and Saudi G.A.P. certifications. The labels aim to boost the market value of products, support farmers and investors in marketing and exporting their goods, expand access to local and global markets, and provide a trusted standard ensuring product quality, safety, and classification.

AgriteQ also featured a high-level tour of the pavilions attended by Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley, Qatar's Minister of Municipality Abdullah Al Attiya, and several other officials and ambassadors.
