Riyadh: CEO of the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC) Sulaiman Al-Rumaih revealed that the SALIC ecosystem contributed to covering around 25% of Saudi Arabia's wheat consumption in 2025, while quantities of strategic commodities directed to Saudi Arabia are expected to exceed eight million tons during 2025-2027. He noted that the company accounts for 8% of global grain trade.

According to Saudi Press Agency, these remarks were made during a media meeting held by SALIC. The event reviewed SALIC's domestic and global investment roles in enhancing the readiness of Saudi Arabia's food security system and diversifying supply sources amid rapid changes in global food markets and supply chains.

Al-Rumaih highlighted that Saudi Arabia's share of global trade stands at 3%, while its imports reached 15 million tons. He pointed out that global grain production compared with international trade totaled 3.04 billion tons in 2025, while total global grain trade is expected to reach 518 million tons, with 17% of production entering global trade.

He stated that SALIC ranks among the world's top ten companies in the grain sector. The value of SALIC's assets has exceeded SAR32 billion, and its ecosystem handles more than 50 million tons of strategic commodities annually through an investment network spanning more than 30 countries across six continents.

During the meeting, the SALIC CEO reviewed figures reflecting the global expansion of the company's investments. A key milestone was the acquisition of a majority stake in Olam Agri, which strengthened its presence in major global food production and trading centers and expanded its assets and international partnerships. He mentioned that the company works to align its global investment presence with Saudi Arabia's needs by building strategic capabilities and expanding market access, thereby enhancing options and flexibility in responding to change.

Al-Rumaih emphasized that food security readiness is built in advance of potential crises by integrating local production, strategic reserves, global investments, and logistics capabilities. He added that SALIC's role is part of an integrated national ecosystem that works to achieve Saudi Arabia's food security objectives in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
