Riyadh: The Roads General Authority (RGA) stressed that the Saudi Road Code requires planning parking areas for buildings and facilities in accordance with controls aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety and reducing random parking, contributing to improving the efficiency of the road network within cities and enhancing traffic flow.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority noted that the code recommends providing parking when needed, especially near main public transport stations, with the necessity that such parking be located in places that do not impede traffic movement on nearby roads and intersections and do not force pedestrians to cross main roads, which enhances safety rates and reduces accidents.
The authority pointed out that parking entrances and exits must take into account the movement of pedestrians and cyclists to ensure a safe environment for all users, indicating that these requirements are part of ongoing efforts to regulate public facilities and improve the quality of life.
The Saudi Road Code serves as a comprehensive technical reference for all entities responsible for roads in the Kingdom, including ministries, city development authorities, region municipalities, and municipalities of cities and governorates.
