Religious Affairs Presidency Provides over 30,000 Quran Copies at Grand Mosque

Mecca: The Quran Affairs Department at the Grand Mosque continues to implement an integrated ecosystem of operational and organizational services to ensure the readiness and availability of copies of the Holy Quran across prayer areas inside the Grand Mosque and its courtyards, in keeping with the high density of worshippers at the Grand Mosque during the month of Ramadan and enhancing the quality of their devotional experience.

According to Saudi Press Agency, since the beginning of the holy month, more than 30,000 copies of the Holy Quran have been provided and distributed in accordance with a precise operational plan based on continuous monitoring of the condition of the copies of the Quran on the shelves and the immediate replacement of damaged copies, in a manner that ensures their quality and integrity are maintained.

The department is keen to provide a variety of Quran copies in different sizes and narrations, as well as translations and explanations in several languages. Separate shelves were allocated in various locations to meet the needs of worshippers of different nationalities and to enable them to read the Holy Quran and understand its meanings in their own languages.

The department gives special attention to the elderly and persons with disabilities by providing large-print Quran copies to facilitate reading, in addition to Braille Quran copies for the visually impaired in both print and electronic formats, which have been distributed in the prayer areas designated for these groups in support of enabling them to perform their acts of worship with ease and peace of mind.

On the operational side, the department carries out periodic maintenance and polishing of the brass shelves in coordination with the relevant entities, in addition to implementing daily Quran-cleaning programs to preserve their quality and ensure their sustainable use in an environment that reflects the status of the Grand Mosque.

Such efforts include coordination with the itikaf project to equip prayer areas for worshippers observing itikaf with Quran shelves, translations, explanations, and narrations, helping create a fully integrated spiritual atmosphere during the last ten days of the holy month. As part of its supporting services, the department provided more than 83,000 chairs and their holders across various prayer areas, including funeral prayer areas, to support worshippers' comfort and facilitate the performance of their acts of worship.

The department also undertakes daily sorting and transferring unapproved Quran copies gifted by visitors to the relevant authorities. Their number has exceeded 88,000 copies since the beginning of Ramadan, as part of organizational procedures that ensure content integrity and standardize approved copies within the Grand Mosque.
