PM Directs To Hold An Ongoing Workshop That Defines The Objectives Of The Tourism Sector In All Its Forms

Today, Wednesday, the Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, chaired a meeting that included, the Minister of Culture, Tourism, Antiquities and Heritage, and the heads of the two bodies of tourism, antiquities and heritage and the advanced cadres in them.

During the meeting, they reviewed the reality of tourism in Iraq and the most prominent problems and obstacles that prevent the development of this important sector, with all the ingredients for its success, whether in the field of religious tourism or other tourism fields.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of tourism and the need to promote it, as it represents a civilized destination for the country, as well as its role in economic development, job creation, and its contribution to enhancing the national product, since one of the government's priorities is economic reform, dealing with the unilateral economy, and diversifying it by activating vital sectors, including the tourism sector, which the government is keen to revitalize for the next stage, based on its government program.

Al-Sudani directed that an ongoing workshop be held to define the objectives of the tourism sector in all its forms, and to list the requirements for its advancement.

Al-Sudani also stressed the importance of involving the private sector in the prepared tourism plans, and directed the Tourism Authority to work on developing the capabilities of specialized cadres in tourism, and to keep abreast of the latest developments witnessed by this sector globally./ End
