Othman Alsini Named Secretary-General of the Saudi Media Award 2026

Saudi arabia: Saudi Media Forum announced the appointment of Secretary-General of the Saudi Media Award 2026 Dr. Othman Alsini, recognizing his long-standing contributions and influential presence in the Saudi media industry.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Alsini is regarded as a veteran of Saudi journalism, bringing more than three decades of experience to the role. His career spans multiple media disciplines, establishing him as a respected leader, researcher, and mentor to emerging talent.

Dr. Alsini holds a bachelor's degree in Arabic Language and Literature from King Abdulaziz University, in addition to a specialized diploma in Educational Administration and Planning. He later earned his master's degree in 1982 and his PhD in 1990 in Arabic Language from Umm Al-Qura University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Alsini has held several pivotal editorial positions. He served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Al-Watan newspaper in 1999 before being appointed Editor-in-Chief, a position he held for three years. In 2008, he assumed the role of Editor-in-Chief of Al-Majalla Al-Arabia, where he transformed it into a cultural institution and launched the 'Saudi e-Book' platform. He later led Makkah newspaper in 2013 and has served as Editor-in-Chief of Al-Watan Saudi Arabia since 2015.

Beyond journalism, Dr. Alsini has an extensive academic background. He began his career as a lecturer at the Teachers' College in Taif, advancing to assistant professor and associate professor, and later chaired the Department of Arabic Language. He also served as a board member of the Saudi Society for Culture and Arts in Taif, chaired its Theatre Committee, and held the position of Secretary of the Taif Literary Club.

His contributions include numerous research papers and cultural works published across Saudi Arabia and the Arab world. His most recent publication is 'Seerat Man Ra'a' ('A Biography of One Who Observed').
